5 STARS! Works like they say! November 7, 2008 GDF (Kansas/USA) 37 out of 37 found this review helpful
Excellent product, very easy to use and makes uniform burgers for the grill and the dimple in the middle ensures there is no "plumping up" in the middle.
When we make them we lay a sheet of plastic wrap underneath with half hanging over, make the paddy, flip it over and fold the other half of the plastic wrap and its sealed ready for storage or keeps the burgers from sticking together. Very quick without a mess.
Super nice invention!
Great 4.5" press / The Dimple is important April 8, 2009 Clay Cope (Seattle, WA) 29 out of 29 found this review helpful
The press produces just over 4.5" diameter burgers and are just perfect for fitting buns. You can obviously make them as thick as you like.
After reading some of the other reviews, I have a couple of comments.
- The Dimple is important. Have you ever noticed that burgers tend to "dome" up while cooking? The dimple prevents this from happening. This explains why Costco has a hole in the middle of their pre-pattied burgers. If they didn't, the burgers would end up like a baseball. The thicker the patty, the greater the "dome" effect.
- This press is dishwasher safe. Need I say anything else.
- The removable dimple insert is a great addition. After pressing, simply remove and flip your patty where ever you want it.
- Regarding meat, I would highly recommend from ground chuck. If you must used ground beef, you want at least 15% fat to give it some flavor.
- Although the press is made of plastic, it's plenty sturdy enough to press a patty.
Great press. Definitely worth the $5 amazon has it listed at.
DOES THE JOB March 27, 2009 H. khashim (Stillwater Oklahoma) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
i love this thing! you can make different sizes of burgers it all depends on how much meat you put into the press! i made burgers that are 1 inch, 0.5 inch or 3 inches!
overall am really happy with the purchase and if your thinking about getting one of them presses, well it doesnt get any cheaper than this! i promise.
Inexpensive and easy to use and clean January 31, 2010 W. Helms (In the West) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I used this item for the first time yesterday to make some chicken burgers. I prefer ground beef, but had some chicken that I ground up get my burger "fix".
The press needs so instructions as it is obvious on how to use it. I was able to press some nice burgers together and remove them easily. The dimple maker in the press is great to prevent the doming effect that ground beef gets when grilled.
I have three other presses. The $24 multi-piece unit, as sold on this site, is hard to clean and will not be used again.
Hint: colder meat seems to press easier than the rest.
skeptic April 23, 2009 Lee Yuen 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
at first i was skeptical about this press thinking the thing wouldnt work right and that the burgers would be better made by hand but thought just go with it if it dosent work give it to someone but i got it yesterday brought ground beef today weighed it out and used the indent came out pretty good cooked it up for dinner and the burgers were tasty no bubbling and if ur wondering about the size yes it fits a burger bun it shrinks just right size i suggest buy this dont go with that expensive metal ones dont waste u money buy this buy the parchment and make a ton of burgers for later use
