| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The Char Broil Quantum Series represents the next step in the evolution of grilling. The Char Broil Quantum insures griling perfection with an all-new Hybrid-Infared cooking system that cooks with a combination of infared and open flame heat. Intense, radiant heat sears in moisture and cooks without air so that even well done steaks stay juicy and full of flavor. Char Broil Quantum makes infared grilling easy with a patented grilling surface that insures your favorite foods cook evenly without flare up and smaller food never end up in the fire box again. The grill itself is powered by5 stainless steel burners that heat 620 sq. in. of cooking area. The burners are sparked by a pushbutton electronic ignition system. The Quantum includes a 13,000 BTU side burner and finishes the style with the stainless construction that has become the mark of a high end cooking system. The Quantum is built on the patented "Dual Fuel" platform that allows this unit to be easily converted to Natural Gas with the simple purchase of a conversion kit. The Quantum also has a built in tank gauge so the grillmaster is always aware and never comes up short when entertaining.

Great Experience September 8, 2008 J-Mac (Maryland United States) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
I bought this grill on a total impulse buy at a local Lowes for $399 during an end-of-season sale this past weekend. I've had it going these past few days a full blast for a good 1/2 hour to 45 minutes and haven't had the knob melting issues like others. It's something that I'll be on the lookout for though....
Otherwise, this has been a fantastic grill for me. I was a bit skeptical of the design while putting it together but fully assembled, it's fairly sturdy.
Cooking is phenomenal. The 'infrared' system is not as gimmicky as it sounds and actually provides an incredibly uniform cooking surface. This is certainly a grill that I will own for a while.
Generally pleased, but knob issues and no cust svc online June 25, 2008 Randie Danhauer (Indiana) 37 out of 39 found this review helpful
We bought this grill about a month ago. Love the way it cooks - hot and fast, great searing capabilities. Cleanup is a little more involved than a regular grated grill, but the cooking quality is worth ten extra minutes of cleaning. It's also a pretty grill. :-)
However... two things we are not happy with.
One: When the grill gets hot (med-high to high) the inside of the knobs melt (they are plastic) and then they spin around and the only way to turn the burners off is to turn off the gas! This SUCKS! I paid $500 for a grill, I don't expect the inside of the knobs to melt the first time we use it.
Two: Tried to send a note to customer service and on the third of four steps required, it shows an error "no results for keyword/sku" or "An error has occurred on this page", so there is no way to contact them online. (I saw many negative comments when I googled "Charbroil customer support", too.. now I know why.)
We will write them a letter and send it via US Mail, but don't appreciate the inconvenience.
UPDATE: I was able to enter my concerns online after shortening my password. (Dunno why that made a difference, but it did.)
No Customer Service January 29, 2009 Kevin Burke (Sterling, MA USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The previous review states that the Contact Form on the website does not work. I had the same problem...and this is six months after that review. After going through 5 steps, you click the "FINISH" button and nothing happens! Tried again three times...same thing. What a way to keep complaints down.
Charbroil is not as good as it used to be July 17, 2009 Coffee Lover 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Hello to all. I do not have this particular model, I do have another of their commercial series that I have had for 5 years. They have been good about warranty issues until this last time. My burners that have a lifetime warranty went bad. When I called them they had no record of me or my grill.. even though they have sent parts to me 4 times. Well anyways, the serial number wore of and they wanted the original reciept. To make a long, long story short.. I am out. This is frustrating because they should have me in their data base. With all this said, I would steer you away from charbroil. Go with another brand.
Quality is certainly skin deep February 1, 2009 M. Diaz (usa) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I'll keep this review as objective as possible. So let me get the subjective comments out of the way right away. This grill (and possibly all char broil grills in its price range and below) is engineered to use the cheapest quality parts possible so that it survives in an in-door showroom for one season.
After two weeks (and being covered for 50% of that time with a grill cover) (purchased separately) this thing is already showing how poorly it can withstand the elements and how susceptible it is to corrosion from things like bar-b-que sauce, and meat drippings. The stainless steel is of the lowest quality and easily stains and these stains do not come off with "Char broil" brand stainless steel cleaner (or any other stainless steel cleaner for that matter - I tried). The infrared (fancy word for perforated) grills look terrible after only 5 uses and it is clear that by next season most of the holes will be clogged and the grills themselves will probably need replacing. the exterior metal panels are already showing extensive warping from the heat and rust spots seem to be multiplying daily.
I appreciate when someone says that $600 doesn't buy much these days, but in my view it should buy more than this. If your experience differs significantly from mine please let me know. Maybe I happen to have a lemon.
