This is one of the basic kitchen elements. This is the official brownie and small casserole pan. If you don't believe in cast iron for cornbread, this is the next best thing. It is so handy and almost indestructible. It is your oven's best friend.
Cleans up easy, if you butter the dish before adding your ingredients. It's also dishwasher safe.

Pyrex Grip-Rite 8-Inch Square Baking Dish, Clear
This is my altime favorite oven dish. I like it for casseroles, corn bread,bacon-filled acorn squash halves and stuffed bell peppers. It lasts forever and holds an even heat. Thanks. Now I have a pair.

Excellent for freezing, storing, and baking in oven or microwave.
Like the larger handles, easier to move when hot.

I got a glimpse of just how durable these dishes are when I was in the store the other day and an employee dropped one on the floor. It made a very loud noise but didn't break! I was browsing in the isle when she dropped it, and I just looked at her and said "Wow." It's true that Pyrex rarely breaks, but I have had a few chips on some of my measuring cups. I still think it's the best all-purpose and reasonably-priced bake ware available. I use it for everything from marinating chicken to baking brownies, and nothing cleans up easier. The nice thing about glass is that you don't have to worry about it retaining odors or being stained or scratched like nonstick pans. Cornbread is perfect every time. The nice big handles make it easy to take out of the oven or carry to the fridge when it's full of food. An all-around kitchen staple and a winner in my book.

I love Pyrex - they are useful for everything and they don't add extra browning to the bottoms like some metal bans. It's also very easy to see if it is boiling on the sides. I use it for brownies, casseroles, dips, everything. I also have the 9x13 and a 6/7x10 and bake chicken and pork in them. Get a cover if you can for easy storage in the fridge. I was only disappointed that this one did not come with a cover like my other Pyrex dishes!
