I have been buying whole coffee beans for years and could never justify $100 for a grinder such as this and I was very happy to see this refurbished model for only $20! It says the hopper holds 8 oz of beans, but I was able to fill it with 10 oz. of beans with no trouble. You simply twist the clear bean hopper to the desired grind, which ranges from espresso to medium to course and everything in between. With my old cylindrical grinder I could never get a true course grind for french press. I also enjoy medium and finer grinds for my standard coffee maker. What I have found with this however is that it can grind a bit more than your selection. This will be apparant when you use the included coffee scoop to measure per cup. You will have to fine tune your grind and cups to suit your taste, but once you get that down it's truly a pleasure to have freshly ground coffee beans at the touch of a button. One last comment, and this will sound "Monkish" but the clear bean hopper has a square format so if you turn it and leave it on anything other than medium grind it will look off center on your countertop. It would have been better if the hopper was a perfect circle so it would always look centered.

I had a burr grinder for years which went with ex-wife. Got a blde grinder and it simply didn't do the job right at all.
The Cuisinart burr grinder is simple to use, very easy to clean, and grinds just the right amount for 2-12 cups. I use a french press sometime (coarse grind), a drip pot (medium grind), and occassionally expresso (fine grind). The grind is perfect each time. The price was right which made the choice a no-brainer.

I bought this because I was looking for a burr grinder and didn't want to spend a fortune. This Cuisinart grinder works very well, far exceeding what I expected for the price. I 'm not an espresso drinker so I can't comment on how fine a grind it will do, but for coffee beans I've used almost the full range of the settings (curiosity if nothing else) and there is an obvious difference in the size of the grounds. The coffee doesn't have a "burnt" flavor since the beans aren't getting overheated by blades so I'm able to make my coffee stronger without needing antacids later. It's very easy to use, although a little large to stick in a corner of a cupboard. All in all, a great grinder!

This grinder may be noisier than some others, but it stays clean and grinds a perfect grind each and every time. Excellent!

I purchased the very same Factory-Reconditioned model from Amazon and it didn't work! Amazon sent me another right away and it has been great for a few months. I must admit that I do not make espresso at home and I no longer use the old perculator, so I cannot speak to the fine and coarse settings. I use it daily. It is really loud, but that's not a problem for me.
